remind

This document describes the unix remind(1) an open source calendar and event system. Remind can be downloaded in tarball form from the Roaring Penguin or can be installed via yum, with yum install remind. remind.x86_64

1. Overview

The remind grammar covers a number of different event types, the simplest of which is the MSG semantic which generates a message event at an indicated time. Remind features include:

2. The MSG event

The event type MSG is used to generate a message at a specific time. Each MSG entry can be created with a pre-event reminders at specific internals, starting at a fixed number (or specific time) prior to message event being triggered. In the following example, a MSG entry is created to fire at 4:30pm, daily, with reminders of the message occuring at 30 minute intervals. A pre-event reminder is triggered 75 minutes prior to the scheduled event.
